July 2016, Day 4, Tamawashi v Sokokurai

Tamawashi tries to win this one with pure strength, but only succeeds when he remembers that little thing called “technique.” Sokokurai latches on to Tamawashi’s belt with a strong left hand underhand grip, and Tamawashi tries to break it by putting his right hand on Sokokurai’s side and pushing straight away. This doesn’t work. So Tamawashi switches to a kotenage (arm bar) attack and collapses Sokokurai’s elbow. Grip broken, Sokokurai is completely out of position and soon goes tumbling backwards off the dohyo.
