July 2016, Day 9, Goeido v Tochinoshin

Goeido drops two in a row despite a strong effort today against Tochinoshin. He takes the advantage off the tachiai, swinging his taller opponent by the belt towards the edge. Even when Tochinoshin lifts Goeido off the ground and reverses the position, Goeido almost defends with an underhand throw. But Tochinoshin is desperate to avoid his eighth loss, and once he settles his weight he gets below Goeido’s center of gravity and walks him out. Goeido falls to 5-4, Tochinoshin hangs in at 2-7.
