July 2016, Day 13, Mitakeumi v Ikioi

Mitakeumi puts on a great performance on Day 13 despite an overall disappointing tournament. He adopts some of the stick-and-move tactics of Harumafuji, showing good lateral movement, keeping his opponent’s hands off his belt, and charging in at the opportune time to drive Ikioi towards the edge. A last-second armlock throw attempt by Ikioi almost spoils the party, but Mitakeumi goes completely horizontal to avoid touching down before Ikioi’s foot goes out. It’s only Mitakeumi’s fourth win of the tournament, but he continues to show promise.
