September 2o16, Day 7, Takanoiwa v Terunofuji

Takanoiwa picks up his fourth win against the struggling Ozeki Terunofuji with tenacity and a nifty move at the end. Takanoiwa’s deep right-handed underhand grip causes problems for Terunofuji (who has no belt grips of his own) so the Ozeki tries a reversal, jamming his left hand inside Takanoiwa’s to break the grip. Takanoiwa fakes a re-reversal on the same side, luring Terunofuji forward before completely letting go with his right hand and using the Ozeki’s momentum to sling him out with a left-handed overhand throw. Quick thinking.
