September 2016, Day 8, Tochiozan v Terunofuji

Tochiozan finds his groove after a rough first half of the tournament, handling giant Ozeki Terunofuji without too much trouble. He prevents Terunofuji from getting a belt grip by jamming both arms underneath Terunofuji’s armpits, and lifting the Ozeki’s posture up from the morozashi position. Terunofuji fights back and Tochiozan has to do some desperate defending at the ring’s edge, but he works his way back to the center and outmaneuvers Terunofuji with hand fighting. Terunofuji is completely out of sorts, and Tochiozan drops him with a beltless makiotoshi (twist down) to improve to 3-5.
