September 2016, Day 13, Takanoiwa v Tochiozan

Takanoiwa whiffs with a right-hand to Tochiozan’s face at the tachiai. Then again when Tochiozan shoves him away, Takanoiwa barely misses with a glancing right hand that brushes Tochiozan’s nose. What finally works is a really nice combination of hip rotation and leg extension that breaks Tochiozan’s balance and sets him up for the left-handed overhand throw. As he falls, Takanoiwa keeps his right arm tucked until Tochiozan touches down to ensure the win. Both wrestlers finish the day at 5-8, a makekoshi record that means they’ll be demoted next tournament.
