September 2016, Day 14, Takayasu v Endo

This is the Endo that people have been waiting for. Granted, he’s been wrestling at the bottom of the division so his opponents haven’t been top-notch, but he shows his skill against Sekiwake Takayasu on Day 14 and builds on his impressive record to stay sole runner-up at 12-2. I see shades of a smaller Takanohana today – wide stance, good belt grip, and the ability to bend at the waist while keeping a strong base to nullify an opponent’s throw attempt. Let’s hope Endo can continue the trend next tournament against stiffer opposition.
