November 2016, Day 9, Takayasu v Kakuryu

Despite his toughest challenge yet, Yokozuna Kakuryu finds a way to defeat Sekiwake Takayasu and keep sole lead of the tournament, improving to 9-0. Takayasu really mixes things up, keeping Kakuryu off-balance with a variety of pushes, thrusts, and pulls until Kakuryu grabs the back of Takayasu’s belt and spins him around, finally getting the break he needs for some offense of his own. He moves quickly to push Takayasu over the edge. Takayasu falls to 4-5. Tomorrow the real test for Kakuryu begins, with only Ozeki and Yokozuna remaining on his schedule, and four of them within one or two wins of the leader.
