January 2017, Day 10, Kakuryu v Tamawashi

Left right left right then two two-handed shoves and Kakuryu is out. Tamawashi brings a solid pushing attack and excellent footwork, leaning in to apply pressure but keeping his feet moving forward. Yokozuna Kakuryu falls to 5-5, and it’s likely that he’ll find an injury excuse to drop out of the tournament in order to prevent a mandatory retirement (Yokozunas can’t be demoted). Unfortunate, but he’s been really inconsistent these past few days. Tamawashi improves to 6-4.
