January 2017, Day 10, Kotoshogiku v Goeido

Goeido meets Kotoshogiku with a full-body charge at the tachiai, putting his head in the larger wrestler’s chest and backing him off the line. Kotoshogiku finds his heels against the tawara and is forced to push forward, so Goeido wraps his hands around ‘Giku’s right shoulder and pulls him down for the katasukashi (under-shoulder swing down). After losing two surprising bouts early in the tournament, Goeido has fought back for a respectable 7-3 record after ten days. Kotoshogiku is in real danger of a makekoshi (losing record) and shows a rare display of emotion, pounding the dirt in frustration after picking up his seventh loss.
