January 2017, Day 11, Kisenosato v Endo

Kisenosato protects his sole lead of the tournament, surviving a hard-fought bout against a motivated Endo. Endo, coming into the match at 5-5, really doesn’t want to lose any more and risk a makekoshi (losing record, guaranteed demotion). But Kisenosato has his sights on the title, and defends against all kinds of attacks before putting down Endo with a fantastic kotenage (arm lock throw). Endo has an underarm grip with his left arm, so Kisenosato clamps down with his right and yanks hard, sending Endo rolling to the dirt. Painful, but effective. Kisenosato improves to 10-1, and Endo falls to 5-6.
