January 2017, Day 13, Ura v Amakaze

Bonus Day 13 bout from the 2nd-tier Juryo division. Ura has had a great tournament, and is challenging for the Juryo division championship. He’s already secured a winning record, and will make his top-division debut in March. Today against Amakaze he shows off his famous flexibility and inventiveness, ducking under Amakaze’s left arm while turning his back. From this position he leans backwards and drops Amakaze to the clay with the official winning technique of tasukizori (kimono-string drop), a technique that hasn’t been seen in professional sumo for 65 years.
