March 2017, Day 1, Mitakeumi v Kakuryu

The wily veteran Yokozuna Kakuryu proves too much for the youngster Mitakeumi on the first day in Osaka. Despite a good tachiai and holding his own for most of the bout until securing a solid position against the Yokozuna, Mitakeumi looks completely unprepared for Kakuryu’s sudden twist at the end. Kakuryu grabs the side of Mitakeumi’s head and slips to the side with deceptive quickness to drop him with the pulling underarm throw, or shitatedashinage.
