March 2017, Day 9, Ikioi v Terunofuji

Ozeki Terunofuji has been quietly amassing a great record this tournament, staying right behind the leaders with eight wins and only one loss. He dominates Ikioi on Day 9, beating the lower-ranked wrestler for only the second time in their nine head-to-head bouts. Terunofuji clamps on a left-handed overarm grip that Ikioi can’t shake, and uses it to sling Ikioi around the ring and over the edge for the yorikiri victory. Ikioi loses his eighth bout, meaning he’s guaranteed a losing record (makekoshi) and demotion next tournament.
