March 2017, Day 10, Shodai v Terunofuji

Terunofuji stays one loss behind the tournament leaders as the sole Ozeki left in the tournament after Goeido dropped out on Day 6. He takes care of business against Shodai, who tries to fight back against Terunofuji’s strong left-handed belt grip to no avail. Once Shodai reverses his right arm inside, Terunofuji uses that overarm grip to shove his opponent around the ring before throwing him down to the clay. Terunofuji’s hard work is still ahead of him, with two Yokozunas to battle in the last five days of the tournament. He won’t fight against Yokozuna Harumafuji unless they meet in a playoff for the championship, since both are members of the Isegahama Heya.
