November 2016, Day 3, Shohozan v Shodai

Despite flying backwards off the dohyo with great energy, Shodai wins this bout with good ring sense. He could move his feet backwards to keep from falling so hard, but instead he keeps his right foot planted inside the tawara as long as physically possible, ensuring not only that he’ll hit the ground painfully as his center of gravity moves out over empty space, but also that Shohozan’s hand will touch down first.
